If you had asked me…

…a couple of months before I attended #deepakchopra at an event in Zurich, I would have laughed at you, saying it’s impossible! Well, some crazy synchronicities made it happen anyway.

That day turned out to be a milestone in my life, which led me to new friends, connections, adventures and most importantly, back to myself. That’s the place where magic happens ✨

I find spending time in silence plus a yoga that makes me feel good the most powerful way to access my magic. I would call it the path of “practicing the practice”. It’s not like pushing a button and within a second I’m surrounded by pink unicorns 🦄 (even if I wished sometimes 😆).

It’s about being consistent.

Over time, I learned to trust my inner voice again, to leave my mind chatting without paying too much attention (“You can’t do that! You can’t! It’s impossible”). Dreams came true; I wasn’t even aware they were waiting inside 🌅

I’m grateful for my teachers who helped me on my journey that brought me to this very moment, sharing my passion about yoga + meditation with you 🙏💚

💬 Some thoughts about having thoughts during meditation…

Spoiler: It’s totally fine!

I remember my first meditation experience ever as it was yesterday. The teacher would ask me to close my eyes and imagine a post-it for every thought I had and pin it on my imaginary fridge.

What happened? I got impatient, frustrated and judgmental with myself, for not being a “good” meditator. Zillions of thoughts in only 5 minutes!

Luckily, that didn’t keep from diving deeper into that life-changing adventure called meditation. It led me to #deepakchopra where I learned that nothing was wrong with me or my practice.

Thoughts are part of the process. They might be different in every practice, but since meditation is the art of letting go, I never again blamed or judged myself for having thoughts.

Meditation is an invitation to release stress & being kind on myself, so I gladly accept it with every single practice 🙏

Because we are trained to work hard and push ourselves to achieve goals, we forget the practice of letting go.

We are constantly on the run to reach the next level of something…

Being kind to ourselves sometimes is the hardest part of a challenge. We are focusing on fighting the emotions, and being hard on ourselves to make through it quickly.

We tend to forget that we deserve the same love, appreciation and kindness that we easily offer others.

Being hard on ourselves creates tension in our minds, emotions, and in our bodies and leads to even more suffering.

Thankfully, we are capable of re-wiring and writing a new software within ourselves to replace suffering with love, ease, and freedom.

That gives us space to breathe, observe and discover new opportunities in the midst of a challenge.

It’s work in progress, yet it never gets boring. It’s an invitation to explore new landscapes, make adventures…

Where in your body do you feel tightness right now?

When someone asked me this question before I started my yoga + meditation practice, it usually would make me feel uncomfortable. Literally there was tension in my whole body due to a severe injury on my cervical spine. Although I did my very best getting unstuck, nothing worked. That made me feel ashamed and frustrated. Needless to say this brought even more tension into my mind-body system.

Stråla Yoga + meditation have opened a new world to me. The world of tuning into my body and mind; noticing without judging; accepting; taking care of myself, and most importantly, simply allowing myself to SOFTEN.

✨This mindset is a game changer, because we are trained to be hard on ourselves (“no pain, no gain”). Fun fact, we’re achieving more by being soft on ourselves!

Let’s do a little softness practice right away. Simply affirm:

✈️ Airports, airplanes, just everything around

✈️ Airports, airplanes, just everything around aviation has been fascinating me since decades.

I even used to work in this industry, as a teenager, and later as an adult, but that’s another story ;-)

🌏 On my recent trip to the US I wondered how many people in front and behind the scenes might have been working to make my flight possible. Chefs, cleaners, technicians, driver, air traffic controller, crew, security, just to name a few jobs. I was grateful for each and everyone that had given some of their lifetime to help me having a great time!

The coolest: gratitude makes giver and receiver feel better. Simple as that. Try it on your next flight (or even better, just now 🥰).

🐳 First time being part of an incredible meditation retreat @davidjimeditation
🐳 First in-person meeting with some of my dear Chopra Meditation Teacher friends

So much fun, laughter, and lightness of being! Ping-pong, selfies, meditation, chants, hugs, shopping, beach walking, canneloni. Being held and giving hold. Going with the flow. Being the flow.

Back in 2019 when I started the Chopra Program to become a meditation teacher, I had no idea what door had opened. It was the door to new dear friends on different continents, new adventures, and a more purposeful life.

💡So, if you ever consider to start your regular meditation practice, be aware of all the goodness that comes into your life!

I’m open for more… More fun, laughter, and lightness of being; new adventures, stronger bonds, and more selfies 😁

Hubby has a new hobby 😁, and that requires a lot of tiny pieces that he collects from all around the globe. This morning, when the doorbell rang the third time, it was me again who accepted the parcel. I went to the door slightly annoyed, took the delivery, and the courier, a young man, smiled, bowed and wished to my big surprise

While you are focusing and working hard to get something done, you easily forget to listen. Listen to that tiny voice, whispering “Hey, I need a break!” You keep on going until you’ve got a headache, stiff back, dry eyes…, the list is endless.

I don’t like making my relaxation exercises complicated. I remember my first meditation teacher casually mentioning “You can practice even while sitting on the toilet!” 😁 And guess what, that’s what I’m doing from time to time!

Yoga (union of mind, body & soul) happens in every minute if you pay attention. Every breath you take is an opportunity to calm your mind. Every move you make is an opportunity to soften your body.

Be creative on how to give yourself time to relax and refresh! Here are a just a few suggestions to breathe and move gentle:

- schedule me-time, several times a day
- use your bio-break
- practice while sitting / standing in the train…
- …queuing at the supermarket…
- …sitting in your car on a carpark…
- …walking indoors & outdoors
- …

Every minute you practice is an investment into your own wellbeing. It works. Always.

🌀How can I quieten my busy mind?

I know how hard managing zillions of thoughts can be. Before I got introduced into yoga and meditation, I thought something was wrong with me. How can someone have so many thoughts in only one second?!

I’m glad to know better now. Having thoughts, no matter how many, is totally normal. It’s part of the human experience. The desire to bring a sense of calm into our minds is natural.

It starts with incredibly simple things like sipping your coffee. That’s one activity, and if you’re scrolling on your phone on the same time, it makes two.

Your attention is half on the coffee and half on your phone, with your mind playing ping-pong. We’re doing this all the time with everything, because we think multitasking is cool. Eventually we wonder why we feel exhausted, and why we can’t stop the thoughts that are constantly raining on us.

🥳 Good news: Just a little change in your daily habits can make a big shift!

✅ Next time when you’re having a coffee or tea: take a nice breath or two. Mute your phone. Feel the warmth, become aware of its flavor, be grateful, and simply enjoy your little pause.
